Genshin Impact is known as a free game, but there are some premium items that cost real life currency. Unfortunately, everything does not seem easy, at least for some people. Some of them are wondering why there is no payment option via PayPal when it is popular and more secure and usually has no problem with banks. This one also allows everyone to shop without having to re-enter the information for every transaction. In fact, some players are not allowed to buy something in the game, but if they had PayPal, the case could be different.
PayPal is really popular when it comes to payment processing sites. It is probably the most popular one in the world. Currently, it provides more than 225 million people in 200 different countries.
There is a whole interesting thread about it on Hoyolab. The thread itself was started by Tavern on November 17, 2020. At the beginning of his post, Tavern stated that this topic has less attention. Actually, there was a similar thread posted before but since the last one also did not get enough attention, he decided to try again.
He stated that there are only four payment methods on PC and each of them is a credit card. It means, not everyone has one or is able to get one and if there is a suggestion to just buy the stuff on the phone, keep in mind that not everyone has a privilege to have a viable phone for the game. In this case, it would be great if people can pay with something like PayPal, just like any other games that are based on China. He added that even though it has been known that China does not want to be involved with the outer world, he was wondering why there is a problem with PayPal when everything is fine with credit cards from all around the world.
Tavern once asked the customer service of Genshin Impact and he only got the uncertain answer stating that they will look into the thing that they can do in the future. In the answer, he said that it is not really an answer to anything like they even want to add the option.
A lot of users joined the discussion, some suggesting to use just PayPal on a phone. The PayPal app is able to be found and to be installed through either App Store or Google Play Store. Tavern has mentioned that not everyone has a viable phone for games, but apparently, it is the only way to pay with PayPal so there are no other options left.
After getting PayPal from either App Store or Google Play Store, it is time for you to sign up. To do so, you will have to go to the official website of PayPal and click Sign Up located on the upper righthand corner of the screen. Then, pick between a personal and business account. The first one is best for online shopping and exchanging money with family members and friends and the later one is perfect for those who use it to transfer money for professional services. After selecting one, set up your email and password. Apparently, you are not required to create a username, but you must link one of the email addresses to your PayPal account. Another thing that you have to do is to set up a secure password. The next thing is to give the basic information such as your name, birth date, phone number, and address. Once you have provided everything, connect your PayPal with your bank or card. Please click the Wallet link that can be found at the top of the page and then click Link a card or bank. From there, feel free to select to link a credit or debit card. You also have an option to link your PayPal directly to your bank account. In addition, you should enter the number for your card or the account number and routing number for your account. If needed, confirm your card account.
Once you have signed up, the next step is to deposit money. Apparently, PayPal is able to draw from your bank to make payments even if your account is empty but if you prefer to have money in your account, you can put some in it by logging onto your account, clicking Transfer Money, and transferring the amount that you want to your account via the bank account.
If you want to pay something related to Genshin Impact with PayPal, you can just choose Pay with PayPal when you check out. As mentioned in the earlier paragraph, choosing this option will make the payment easier and faster compared to entering the credit card information.
In conclusion, the only way to use PayPal on Genshin Impact as a payment method is to use the phone that is able to be used for games. It is true that not everyone is blessed with it there is really no other way. Just like what Tevran stated, miHoYo does not seem to have any plan to add the PayPal option anytime soon, so all that you can do now is to pray and hope for them to grant everyone’s wish.
Since miHoYo keeps making improvements to all of their games including Genshin Impact, there is still a chance for them to add PayPal to the payment method. They might have some considerations and cannot think and make a decision fast so let them have their time. In order to get the newest news about the possibility of PayPal featured on Genshin Impact and some other information, you are encouraged to join the communities or forums related to this game. Aside from that, you can also try to make a move by keeping asking for the developers to make it possible. Who knows it might be worked if a lot of people keep demanding the PayPal to be added.
